Miguel
Miguel is an intelligent, ambitious and passionate boy who works in the Civil Guard Information Service. After the break with his girlfriend and the death of his best friend at the hands of the terrorist band ETA, he decides to accept the most stimulating mission of his life: move to Kuartango, a deserted Alava valley, under a new identity, with the aim of achieving evidence to arrest the murderers of his friend. Mary
In Kuartango, the old Mary, close to death, recalls her life and reflects on the Basque conflict, reading for the last time the newspapers she began to write in her childhood. Tragedies, misfortunes and adversities have caused his mind to deteriorate to such an extent that he is no longer able to distinguish fantasy from reality and live immersed in a fantastic world, where the deities of Basque mythology and the ancestral rituals of pre-Christian paganism come alive and control again the fate of humans.
The author
María Santórum Alaña was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1980. She currently lives in the Kuartango Valley and is an English teacher, translator and coach. His fascination for the complexity of the mind of the human being and his concern for the seriousness of the Basque conflict, which marked his adolescence to a large extent, have led him to write this exciting novel full of action, which manages to entertain the reader with his intriguing plot and touching, and make him reflect on the most perverse aspects of the human condition.
